Nelas
Located between the Estrela and Caramulo mountains, right in the heart of the Dão region, the municipality of Nelas is traversed by the Mondego and Dão rivers. Rich in natural resources and with a diverse historical heritage, Nelas has great tourism potential. For health tourism, you can enjoy modern thermal treatments at the Caldas da Felgueira Thermal Resort. Wine production is a strong point of the local economy. Nelas produces some of the best Dão wines and is also home to the Dão Wine Studies Center. Besides wine, Serra cheese and regional olive oil are other renowned products. Also, visit the local craft shops and pick up the famous rag dolls or traditional pyrographed wooden objects as souvenirs.
