Seixal
Located on the peninsula of Setúbal, Seixal municipality is part of the metropolitan area of Lisbon. The privileged geographic location, along with the improvement of accessibility and mobility progression, namely in terms of public transport, contributed to the exponential growth of necessarily large villages, enterprises and social equipment. At the bottom, the County went from a rural oriented territory, to a markedly Urban Council. The Quinta do Rouxinol and Quinta de São João, archaeological sites present in the municipality, bear witness to human presence since prehistory. The administrative and territorial organisation of the County has been the subject of several amendments, factor that contributed to that, only in the reign of Maria II, in the year 1836, obtained the Rights Council. The Bay of Seixal, considered to be the calling card of the municipality, press for its landscape and ornithological richness, aquatic fauna. Here are sighted many migratory birds like herons and sporadically colonies of flamingos. Because of its natural conditions, the Bay serves as a stage for the practice of various sporting activities, such as sailing and canoeing.
