Vila Nova de Paiva

Vila Nova de Paiva is located in the Centre of the country, more precisely in the Dão-Lafões subregion, South of Serra da Nave. The Paiva River, the less polluted in Europe, down from Serra da Nave and crosses the municipality, this being bathed, yet, by the rivers Vouga, Covo and Bad. Typical gastronomy has as main dishes with trout escabeche sauce, wild boar, Rabbit Stew with gorse, the RAM and the goat stew of stew. The handicrafts of the region encompasses the knitting linen, tiling, ceramics, wrought iron, basketry and clog making, stonemasonry and figurative works in granite.
