Vila Nova de Paiva
Vila Nova de Paiva is located in the center of the country, more precisely in the Dão-Lafões sub-region, south of Serra da Nave. The Paiva River flows down from Serra da Nave and crosses the municipality, which is also bathed by the Vouga, Covo and Mau rivers. Enjoy the municipality's river beaches: Quinta da Azenha, Praia Fluvial de Fráguas, Praia Fluvial/Parque Urbano do Touro and Praia Fluvial do Rio Covo. The main dishes of typical cuisine include trout with pickled sauce, wild boar, rabbit stewed with gorse, stewed lamb and stewed goat. Among sweets, the most popular are "papas de relão", egg bread and Easter "cavacas". The region's crafts include linen making, tiles, ceramics, wrought iron, basketry and clogs, stonework and figurative work in granite.
