Castanheira de Pêra
Located in the Zêzere River basin, the municipality of Castanheira de Pêra, comprised of only two parishes, occupies an area of the Lousã Mountains at an average altitude of 600 meters. The beautiful natural landscape and the abundant natural resources are a significant feature of the municipality. The Ribeira de Pera Valley is home to the wool industry, which was at its peak in the second half of the 19th century. Today, it is the municipality's most important industry, followed by livestock. Chestnuts and honey, typical products of the region, are the reason for annual events that attract connoisseurs of these delicacies.
