Pedrógão Grande

Located in the extreme northwest of the Leiria district, Pedrógão Grande is part of the Pinhal Norte area, considered the largest forest area in Europe, where pine trees, eucalyptus, acacias and olive trees predominate, with an impact on the local economy. The beauty of the natural landscape is an attractive factor, bringing to the county many visitors eager for fresh air. The river beaches, the pedestrian routes, the imposing landscape, the customs and traditions, attract many tourists. As far as gastronomy is concerned, it stands out for its trout, largemouth bass and sea bass, species found in the reservoirs of two large dams, Cabril and Bouçã. Also be sure to try the bread pudding, kid, fish soup, stuffed tripe and the "maranhos".
