Downstream of Vila Velha de Ródão, Rodao doors are an imposing geological formation where the Tagus breaks of between two craggy walls (about 170 feet tall) for a deep lake, excavated by a supposed ancient waterfall that was disappearing until river level with the Lake. Besides being habitat for largest colony of Griffon Vultures in the country, is a privileged place for the investigation of fauna and avifauna, where they can be observed 116 species of birds, many of which are considered endangered species and some rare.

This site offers beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding green hills.

A dam inaugurated in 1973, 43 metres tall, located between the mouth of the Ocreza river and the Portas de Ródão. Fishing, swimming, windsurfing, skiing, sailing, jet skiing and motor boating are permitted.

Hermitage consists of a T-shaped plan, due to the construction of two sacristies, keeping within a tiled front Mudejar.

This center belongs to the Cultural and sports promotion Association of Vila Velha do Ródão.

This medieval keep it’s to be found on a scarp over Tejo River. This tower is the only remain from Ródão castle also known as King Vamba Castle. The castle was built on the VII century by Vamba King and the tower was probably built whether on the XI or on the XII centuries by the Knights Templar.

The Ocreza river flows along about eighty kilometres, from its spring, on the Gardunha Hill, to its mouth, on the Tagus river. It has several tributaries.

A cement dam with counterforts built in the 1980s on the Ocreza river. It produces electricity. Fishing, swimming and sailing are permitted.

Nice space with garden benches and trees offering shade, where you can get a beautiful panoramic view over the Centre of Vila Velha de Ródão, of which stands out the white houses.
