Vila Velha de Ródão

Vila Velha de Ródão is located in the southern district of Castelo Branco, between the Tagus River and its tributary, the Ocresa River, with the Serra do Perdigão as a backdrop. This characteristic makes olive groves predominant, and therefore olive oil is the region's main product, although activities such as agriculture, dairy, and livestock farming, among others, are also part of the region's economic sector. The cuisine preserves the flavors of yesteryear: oven-roasted goat, fish soups, lamprey, eel stew, "sopas de boda" (a lamb dish), and black-eyed peas with chicory salad are the most expressive. "Tigeladas", "nogados", and "pantufas" are the icons of the confectionery.
