A 16th-century church with a single nave, pilasters at the corners, a main façade finished with a gable and cornice, with openings forming a central axis consisting of the Mannerist portal surmounted by a niche with an image of Our Lady of Mercy. The interior is completely stripped of its former structure and decoration, preserving only the chancel arch, a perfect arch on pilasters, with traces of paint.

The primitive church was constructed as a consequence from the Christian Reconquest on the half of the 13th century, being one of the oldest parish headquarters on the town. The structure and the character from the former Gothic church were deeply altered becoming the most important example from the Manueline style in Santarém.
