It is worth visiting the historic center of this beautiful city, recognized by UNESCO in 1983 as a World Heritage City. With Renaissance features, it has magnificent monuments open to the public which, together with its natural beauty and historical interest, make this an unforgettable place.

This is a small open-air museum, inaugurated in 1980 and erected in homage to all who contributed to the birth of Metalúrgica Duarte Ferreira. It includes a reconstruction of the workshop, some wrought iron tools, and the evolution of the forge, from its beginning until the 1980s.

It is a modern building, opened in 1990, located between the Jerónimos Monastery and the Tagus River. It started as the seat of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union, later becoming (1993) a cultural center. The pavilion for temporary exhibitions hosts music, theater and photography shows.

Green area with about 11500 m2, opened in 2005. The 16 distinct species of palm trees are worthy of notice. It also has a lake, an entertainment area for children, two Petanca fields, two fountains and some urban art pieces.

This farm is a fine exemplar of Madeira farms. The garden, inside, has a playground, tennis courts and squash, a fitness circuit and a pool. It is possible to find various trees and plants from all over the world. It is open everyday from 8h to 20h.

A wide natural area, ideal for strolls among the vast pinewoods with picnic areas and a maintenanc circuit. Fit for open air activities and for being in touch with nature.For centuries, the wood that came out of these pinewoods were used in the local ovens and in the shipyards.

Building built by the municipality of olive groves in 1873, in a property named "Quinta do Mr Stolen or of souls". Been long abandoned, and only recovered in the years 80, being adapted to the realization of cultural events. It was opened as a theatre in December 1989.

Male former convent of the order of St. Francis founded in 1553, which subsists the cloister. In 1834 was sold, working for a few years as fifth and, in 1987, was acquired by the University of Beira Interior, after the remodel, opened here in 1995, a part of the University.
