Granite cruise placed on a platform of two quadrangular steps. The base is stone bearing, in each of the faces, with inscriptions relating to his inauguration and the commemoration of the Foundation and of the independence of Portugal. The forend, of quadrangular section, is surmounted by a capital consisting of a cubic block with ornate faces by crosses and the corners, carved in relief. This cruise is crowned by a cross, bifurcated format with reliefs on the ends.
Igreja de Santo António dos Congregados

Built at the end of the XVII century, on the place where a chapel devoted to Santo António used to be, the Congregados church has a sober façade decorated, in the XX century, with azulejos (tiles) by Jorge Colaço. At the walls you can see mural paintings by Acácio Lino, representing scenes from Santo António life, work done in 1927.

Building dated from the end of the XVIII century, the former residence of the Carvalhal Counts. The seven wicker balconies in forged iron and the portal sided by two iron lanterns are worthy of notice. It worked as a hotel, a college and international club and is now the property of the City Council and headquarters of Regional Archive of Madeira, the Municipal Library, the Museum and the Municipal aquarium of Funchal.

This defensive wall ended by the São Tiago Fortress, with a door giving access to the sea, from which there are still some remains in the access to São tiago beach. With the construction of Campo Dom Carlos I, the walls of this part of town were destroyed and there’s only a section left between São Tiago Fortress and Largo do Corpo Santo.

Built in the 18th century, this house is considered one of the finest examples of Baroque civil architecture. Constructed of granite, it features Rococo decoration concentrated in the windows and main door. This construction demonstrates elements of Douro Baroque architecture, influenced by Nicolau Nasoni. In the early 19th century, Napoleonic troops were stationed here, later setting fire to the building in 1810 before withdrawing. From 1895 onwards, it underwent partial reconstruction, initiated by the 3rd Viscount of Banho.
