One of the few vestiges of the old medieval walls, with a quadrangular plan and prismatic battlements. It was adapted to a prison in the 16th century (D. Manuel I). It currently houses the Tourist Office and hosts temporary exhibitions.

The Spanish-Arabic fresco-paintings from the XV century, as well as an ogive window with beautiful glass works, a valuable sculpture of São Nicolau and the rich tomb of D. Gonçalo Pereira are worth the visit to this chapel.

This convent was founded in 1570 by Infant D. Maria of Portugal. It should be mentioned the church with one only nave, covered with tiles from the XVIII century and the two floors cloister with rectangular plan and simple lines.

This backboard public fountain goes back to the D. João V period. It has a central body and two lower laterals. At the centre, over the tank, is the medieval seal of the city. On top is the national coat of arms.

Chapel built in the XVI century, ordered by D. Pedro de Sousa. In 1970 it suffered remodelling works. Worthy of notice are the elements of the regional mannerism: the planimetry, the vaults and respective keystones and brackets, the fronton gridiron and the portal.
