Placed at the former Carmelitas Descalças Convent, from the XVII century, the York house is located in on of the most beautiful and typical areas of the city. Large and sober space warmed by a lovely yard-garden. Inside dark stairs and passages lead to the rooms, some of them recovered from the original convent cells.

In addition to the space surrounding the beautiful Pinhel Castle, the lookout provides a privileged view of the entire city, its historic center, and the surrounding area. In 2005, the space received a virtual lookout capable of telling the story live in the locations and settings where the events took place, combining high-tech with history.

This garden is placed in the confluence of three great monuments: the Belém Cultural Centre (CCB), the Jerónimos Monastery and the Planetary. Its beauty is due to the harmony of the dispositions and architectonical plan, being that it was planed accordingly to the Greek and Roman gardens. It has lawns, benches and, at the centre, the luminous fountain, that offers a show of lights and colour.

Chapel inaugurated on September 5, 1909 by the Brotherhood of Nossa Senhora das Necessidades. The objective was to replace the old chapel, which was in poor condition. In the new chapel, with revivalist architecture, elements from the older chapel were applied. Pilgrimages take place during festivals in honor of Senhora das Necessidades.

The entertaining Park Alto da Serafina is a pleasant place for people of all ages, but mostly for the children. It has large lawns and lots of trees and bushes, the ideal spot for a walk. It also has a restaurant, a picnic area, playgrounds, infant’s driving license, bandstand and a lookout that offers a beautiful view of the city.

This space, placed in a beautiful room Eiffel style, has an interesting collection of objects from the former Portuguese colonies in Africa and Asia. Among these is a mask from Guinea Bissau relating to the circumcision ritual, musical instruments and spears, as well as the “Padrão”, a pillar used by the Portuguese to mark the conquest of Angola in 1482.

Created in 1848 by the first “Geologic Commissions” to be the base of the territory investigation and placed in this building since 1859, the Geologic Museum assembles the most complete set of palaeontologist and stratigraphic Portuguese collections, as well as important minerals and pre-historic archaeological collections. This is a rare example of the museography of the XVIII and XIX centuries nowadays.

The changes made by the architect Souto Moura at the former Alfândega (customs) building gave the place another aspect. This exhibition aims to allow the public to know, generally, the communication and transports contribute in these days. One of the big attractions of this museum is the permanent exhibition: “O automóvel no espaço e no tempo” (history of the car).

Placed at the former Real Fábrica dos Tecidos de Seda, in a building from the XVIII century, remodelled and adapted to shelter a museum and a documentation and investigation centre, the foundation, opened in November 1994, has as main purpose the divulging and study the works of the painters Arpad Szenes e Vieira da Silva.

Medieval church which is believed to have been remodelled in the 16th century. In the 18th century, was placed the coffered ceiling of the chancel and the respective altarpiece. Presents a longitudinal plan consists of a nave and a chancel, covered with gable roof. In the interior, especially the Renaissance pulpit for the triumphal arch back and for the altarpiece of the high altar.
