As in several villages in the Algarve, Loulé also accuses the presence of various peoples: Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Moors, who took over the city in 715. The Christian reconquest took place in 1249 and in 1268 the fortress was rebuilt and expanded, being rebuilt in the 16th century. Currently, there are some remains on Rua da Barbacã, Largo da Matriz and Rua Rainha Dona Leonor.

Botica's House is, at the same time, House of culture and the municipal library of Póvoa de Lanhoso. Is one of the oldest in the County, built in 1676 and retired in 1862, before the urbanization plan of the village. In relation to the origin of the name Casa da Botica, Pelican, placed on the façade of the building, gives some lights on designation. It is known that the Pelican now is regarded as religious symbol and as a Christian symbol.

The chapel in the village of fifths, dedicated to our Lady of health has, in the main façade, a rectangular portal, flanked by two glasses, and in stretching the Ridge a belfry with triangular shot surmounted by a cross. Inside the chapel stands the high altar in gilt, placed on the wall of the headboard, which houses religious imaginary. This is the chapel which is celebrated the mass of the feast in honour of our Lady of health.

This is a unique and unusual place to spend your day. Here you'll encounter several species of wild animals. You might even be surprised by a zebra, giraffe, oryx, or wildebeest, as they roam freely throughout the park. Also, watch the bird of prey and exotic bird show, stroll across the 80-square-meter bridge, get some fresh air, and indulge in the park's restaurant.

The International Garden Festival is located in Ponte de Lima, on the right bank of the Lima River, has an area of about 2.5 ha and is organized into four spaces: parking, the pool and bar area, leisure park and the area defined by the International Garden Festival, where every year - from May to October - the Garden Festival competition takes place, with varied themes and compositions.

Designed by North American architect Peter Chermayeff, it is located at Doca dos Olivais, in the heart of Parque das Nações. It was one of the main attractions of Expo 98 and, since then, it has become one of the most emblematic places in the city. In this "global ocean" four different habitats are recreated – the North Atlantic, the temperate Pacific, the Antarctic and the Indian Ocean – arranged around a central tank.

Golf course in the Aldeia dos Capuchos, 1402 meters long, being ideal for quick games. With the sea as backdrop, has nine holes of beautiful design, small slopes, a large lake, slight tilt greens and strategically placed bunkers. Housed in the former county jail building, built in 1844, across from City Hall, here you can explore a remarkable archaeological collection that traces the human presence in the region, from the Paleolithic to the medieval period. Of particular note is Miróbriga, an important Roman settlement, which occupies a special place in this museum, with a dedicated room where you can view exhumed pieces.

The construction of this space began in 1570 and ended only in the XVIII century, a fact is known for. The National Pantheon was placed here since 1916, with the Vasco da Gama, Afonso de Albuquerque, Nuno Álvares Pereira, Camões, Pedro Álvares Cabral, Infante D. Henrique, some Presidents and writers tombs. Amália Rodrigues, the famous fado singer, is the only woman here.

The museum Photographia Vicentes is based in the collection of the atelier founded in 1845, with a department of emulsified glasses unique in the world. It is placed in the former photographic studio of Vicente Gomes da Silva, built in 1865 and remodelled in 1887, keeping its architectonical characteristics until today. This space also has about 800 thousand negatives of collection of professional and amateur photographers, and a small nucleus for Cinema.
