Monte da Xara's cottage ideal for those who love Sun, sea and tranquilizers landscapes. With the architectural characteristics of the region, is located in a rural area, with agricultural activity and, at the same time, with an enormous biodiversity. The House offers a unique accommodation for 2 to 4 people (at most), which allows the desired privacy for truly calm and relaxed vacation. Sitting on the sunny porch, guests can enjoy a unique environment, where nature suggests the ideal tranquility to relax.

Founded in the 15th century, the Parish Church of Ribeira Brava, or São Bento, has undergone several interventions over time, and therefore presents Manueline, Mannerist, and Baroque characteristics. It houses a varied and rich collection of paintings, sculptures, goldsmithing, and woodcarving from the 16th and 17th centuries, making it one of the most important heritage sites in the region. Its treasure has been exhibited at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels, and within the church, it constitutes the Silverware Collection.

With around 75,000 hectares, it is one of the largest protected natural areas in Portugal and a must-see for anyone arriving in this region where nature has been very generous. The Serra de Montesinho is characterized by its rounded hills and the valleys the Sabor, Maçãs and Baceiro Rivers. The fauna is varied and rich, with emphasis on the presence of wolves, deer, roe deer, nesting birds, amphibians and reptiles. There are signposted walking paths that are a great way to get in touch with the vast biodiversity.

This is the only mine still active in the region, since 1965. The salt extracted by vaults and sustainers, has the chemical industry as its main destination. The mine did not work from August 1993 to September 1994, due to the change of the extraction tower. From 1994 on, the levels of yearly production have been growing and are currently about 100 tons per year, which represents, in percentual terms, about 17% of the global production volume of salt in the country.

Restaurant located in a restored house from the 17th century, thanks to the dedication of its owner, Luis Castro, who for eight years, recovered this building of 1642, which retrieves the Roman designation of the locality. Decorating changes three times a year, but keeping the same symbol-roosters. Located in a historic building, this restaurant established for more than 45 years prides itself on being the pioneer in Madeira, specialist of fresh fish and seafood. The guests are welcomed by a friendly and attentive staff, led by a very welcoming chef, who will advise you in French. The service will be in the room or on the terrace, with mostly local products and homemade desserts. The fish is simply grilled with salt and olive oil to preserve the flavor. A typical regional themed cuisine with high added value.

It is believed that this castle was built before the establishment of the nation, during the reign of Alfonso IX of León. Later, King Dinis recovered much of that region, ordering restoration and expansion works on its fortresses. King Manuel I granted a new charter to the town, leading to further restoration works. Currently, two square towers remain, one of the entrance gates bearing the royal crown and the coat of arms of King Manuel. Nothing remains of the wall that surrounded the town.

In the beginning of the 20th century, most precisely in 1907, Afredo da Silva buys a plot of ground from the Bensaúde family in the Lezíria, between the North Beach in Barreiro and the Moinhos Beach in Lavradio, and there he builds the C.U.F. factories.
