Monte do Pilar is a granite spur of great geological interest, being the largest granite monolith in the Iberian Peninsula. It is one of the main tourist attractions in the municipality because, in addition to its magnificent landscapes, it allows for outdoor activities such as rappelling or via ferrata.

Mount São Mamede has an altitude of 750 meters, offering one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Minho region. Besides the phenomenal view, you can visit the Church of Fontarcada, the monasteries of Tibães, Rendufe and Bouro, the Castle of Lanhoso, the Torre dos Machados, and the sanctuaries of Sameiro, Senhora do Pilar and Porto de Ave.

This viewpoint, located at approximately 975 meters altitude, offers beautiful views over the Serra da Marofa mountain range and the entire Beira Alta region, with a glimpse of Spain in the distance. A notable feature of this location in the mountains is the replica of the Christ the King statue.
