Ribeira do Porto
Anyone who visits Porto must go to Ribeira. Located by the Douro River, it is the most genuine area of the city. Here you can wander among saleswomen, residents that meet to chat, or you can choose an esplanade to rest, as well as a typical restaurant to relish the Porto’s gastronomy and regain your strength. This place has countless monuments, from the São João statue, a work of João Cutileiro, which occupied the Ribeira Fountain’s niche that had been empty for more than 200 years, to the Muro dos Bacalhoeiros (prolongation of the Muralha Fernandina) that is a great spot to enjoy the view of the river banks. Higher up, visit the São Francisco Church, The Palácio da Bolsa, the Casa do Infante, among other historical/cultural buildings.
