Alpiarça

Alpiarça is a municipality in Ribatejo belonging to the district of Santarém and has only one parish. Its geographical location, on the left bank of the Tagus, favored human occupation from the Lower Paleolithic to Roman times. The main point of interest in the municipality is the Casa Museu dos Patudos, a space in honor of José de Mascarenhas Relvas, politician, man of letterswriter, musician and art collector, among other interests that led him to create this space of great wealth and beauty. It presents a heterogeneous art collection: paintings, furniture, earthenware, porcelain, tapestries and bronzes. In terms of gastronomy, highlights include "Carneiro à Moda de Alpiarça" (ram) and "Miga Fervida". Typical sweets are "Broas de Alpiarça", "Quadradinhos de Alpiarça" and "Pão-de-ló".
