Salvaterra de Magos

Salvaterra de Magos is located in the Ribatejo floodplains, near the Tagus River. It's a region with strong traditions, particularly in bullfighting. The town's bullring hosts one of the most bullfights throughout the year in the entire country. Being a fertile region, Salvaterra de Magos's origins are ancient. In Muge, there are several prehistoric remains, as well as Roman monuments. Also noteworthy is the Magos reservoir, offering excellent leisure opportunities. The craftsmanship is rich: pottery in Muge, cross-stitch embroidery from the Glória do Ribatejo, and wickerwork and wickerwork from Marinhais. Servings include codfish "torricado", tripe, and tripe, as well as honey cake, "Papos de Anjo", and the traditional Salvaterra liqueur.
