Golegã
Golegã is known across the country as the "horse Capital", due to its historical ties to bullfighting traditions. In the heart of the Ribatejo, this is one of the lezíria locations where one feels more the local Ribatejo habits. Crossed by the river Almonda and limited to east, throughout its hole length, by the river Tejo, this is one of the most beautiful towns in the region. Despite its small dimensions (about 5500 inhabitants and with only two parishes), the city of Golegã is sought after by many visitors, especially in the month of November, around the time of the Feira Nacional do Cavalo (National Horse Fair). In terms of its heritage, the most emblematic buildings are the parish church (or Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição), the Quinta da Cardiga (a magnificent farmhouse that belonged to the Templars), and the House-Studio of Carlos Relvas (an elegant example of the Romanesque architecture). Another attraction is the renowned Reserva Natural do Paul do Boquilobo (natural reserve), an alluvial plain of marshes of great faunistic and floristic importance.
