Golegã

Golegã is known throughout the country as the "Horse Capital City", due to its historical links to bullfighting traditions. In the heart of Ribatejo, this is one of the places in the marshland where Ribatejo traditions can be felt. Crossed by the Almonda River and bordered to the east, along its entire length, by the Tagus River, this is one of the most stunning villages in the region. Despite its small size (around 5500 inhabitants and only two parishes), the municipality of Golegã is popular with many visitors, especially in November, during the National Horse Fair. Don't miss the Paul do Boquilobo Natural Reserve, an alluvial plain of swamps of great fauna and flora importance.
