Ferreira do Zêzere's landscape, although it is located at the northern end of Ribatejo, has little to do with the typical lezíria. Deep valleys, pine forests and streams characterize the region and the resevoir of Castelo de Bode provides magnificent views over the county. The story of Ferreira do Zêzere is marked by the presence of the Templar Knights, who created a line of defense and one of the municipality's symbols: the Torre Pentagonal de Dornes (Pentagonal Tower of Dornes). In the 21st century the region suffered major changes with the rising waters of the Zêzere river, which led to the displacement of hundreds of people. Nowadays, the river is one of the greatest sources of wealth and the county's tourist facilitator.

Torre de Dornes

This medieval tower does not have a consensus concerning it construction: some people say it was made by Sertório on the VIII century, others believe that it were the Morish and others say it was made by the Templar Knights. It has a five-sided plan, covered with roof tiles and a dome finished by a cylindrical body.
