São Pedro do Sul
São Pedro do Sul is located in the Dão-Lafões subregion, being a territory dominated by the serra da Gralheira and bounded by the rivers Paiva and Vouga. The County was created in 1836, resulting from the Division of the former municipality of Lafões, which was one of the two seats, along with Vouzela. The Termas de São Pedro do Sul is one of the ex-libris of the municipality, being the most crowded resorts of the Iberian Peninsula. Its origins date back to Roman times, being until 1910 known as Caldas de Lafões or Caldas da Rainha Dona Amélia. According to tradition, Dom Afonso Henrique would have here sought cure several ills. Thermal King set remains the pool of Dom Afonso Henriques. The local gastronomy is rich in various flavors, like the wood-oven baked lamb, veal à la Lafões, cabidela rice, Greaves, the ball of sardines, duck rice à la Lafões and bean soup. All accompanied with good wine region's Green! Within the craft, is worth a visit to the old train Station of São Pedro do Sul, transformed into traditional arts workshop-Arts station and Flavors – where they are produced, exhibited and sold, weaving pieces painted tiles, ceramic, wood and Cork.
