Arruda dos Vinhos
Located northwest of Lisbon, the district to which it belongs, the municipality of Arruda dos Vinhos is in a transitional region between Estremadura and Ribatejo. Despite its distinctly rural characteristics, service-related and industrial activities currently represent the most significant employment opportunities. The local cuisine and sweets are strongly influenced by both the Saloia and Ribatejo regions. The quality and natural characteristics of the soils contribute to Arruda dos Vinhos' recognition for the quality of its wines. Not to be missed are the popular festivals of Santo Antônio, the Snail Festival (July), the festivities honoring Our Lady of Salvation (August), the Hunting Fair (September), and the Vine and Wine Festival (first half of November).
