The museum of the Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida gathers a series of works collected by the founder. Among them it stands out the collection of golden coins from different places.

Opened in 1982, it was a shopping center in the city for many years. Nowadays, stores became studios and rehearsal rooms, now being born as a kind of musical incubator in Porto. There are more than 100 rooms from which various musical styles come from and some artists, such as Manuel Cruz, from Ornatos Violeta, have their name associated with the space.

It is the largest urban park in the country, with an area of 83 hectares that extends to the sea. Designed by the architect Sidónio Pardal, it is an open space with water mirrors, lawns, small woods and about 10 km of paths. It has excellent conditions for the practice of sports or, simply, for walking in contact with Nature. In the park, you can also visit the Water Pavilion and the Sea Life aquarium.

This is a large garden, with leafy trees, a great spot to take a walk or practice sports such as football, jogging or riding a bicycle. This former rural farm has benches and tables, which are ideal for a picnic, as well as running tracks where you can go across 90 hectares of vegetation.

The Museu da Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto has a museological heritage consisting of collections of objects that testify to the experimental teaching and research developed by the institution since its inception. The well known São Roque Park is a large space, with lots of trees. You can take a walk, have a café or do a picnic at using the benches and tables you’ll find there. This Park used to be the former Quinta da Lameira and opened to the public in 1979, after being bought by the Town Hall. Right at the entrance there’s a branchy, fresh grove and, as you walk through it, you’ll find stone benches, lawn platforms, a lake, a terrace over the Douro River, a small box labyrinth and a playground. The park, with 18 hectares, is divided into art and nature. Organized in platforms, lanes, gardens, groves and tilled grounds, it is part of a 30ies’ house, which belonged to the Conde de Vizela (earl). The gardens are Art Deco.

Located downtown, this house has been serving the city for 40 years. The good traditional Portuguese food is served in a rustic place with friendly ambience.

The changes made by the architect Souto Moura at the former Alfândega (customs) building gave the place another aspect. This exhibition aims to allow the public to know, generally, the communication and transports contribute in these days. One of the big attractions of this museum is the permanent exhibition: “O automóvel no espaço e no tempo” (history of the car).
