A mixed dam, part gravity and part arch, fed by the Rabagão River, belonging to the Cávado River Basin. Completed in 1964, it stands 94 meters high and 1,897 meters long at the crest, with a maximum discharge capacity of 500 m3/s. It is the second-largest dam in Portugal, after the Alqueva Dam, and is highly sought after by fishermen. Other sports and leisure activities, such as surfing and motorboating, are also permitted.

The restoration of the banks of the Cávado River has been carried out in sections, resulting in modern and very pleasant leisure areas. On an upper platform, there is the central square, a children's playground, a space for extreme sports (such as climbing, skateboarding, and rollerblading), a multisport facility, a multipurpose square, a stage for performances, and a bar. The Riverside Strip features a water mirror, prepared with a removable weir along the mill race wall and a granite embankment.

The Pitões das Júnias waterfall, located in the heart of Peneda-Gêres National Park, is fed by the crystal-clear waters that flow past the Santa Maria das Júnias Monastery. It has a first drop of about 30 meters, followed by several more. This entire landscape is surrounded by a beautiful, centuries-old oak forest.

Infante Dom Pedro Park, or City Park, was established in 1862 on land previously owned by the Convent of Santo Antônio. The river that ran through it was used to create a landscape of lakes and fountains dotting the surrounding greenery. Highlights of this garden include Avenida das Tílias, the iron bandstand, and romantic corners nestled among bridges and trees.
