The Municipal Park has a restaurant and café, as well as tables and benches for picnickers. It also includes the Leiria tennis club, basketball and handball courts, a playground and small lakes. It is also known as Parque do Avião, for having exposed an airplane.

It is the largest green space in the city, with a terrace and a restaurant. Nearby, the Lis river allows for walks along the banks, connected by bridges. If the weather invites, a picnic is possible at one of the tables.

Built in 1747, the Tapada Nacional de Mafra was created with the aim of providing adequate involvement to the Mafra Palace, to constitute a recreational space for the King and his court and also to supply firewood and other products to the Convent. With an area of 1187 hectares, Tapada has a rich fauna and flora and offers a series of activities to the public, such as walking, mountain biking and train routes, night visits, traditional games and activities for the youngest.

Theme garden where the pre-existing structures of the farm are reused, integrating them into the old erudite gardens, characteristic of different periods. This is a true botanical garden, with a large greenhouse, where plantations are made with an educational purpose. Inside, there is also a rural museum that exposes the traditional farming technics.

Large and very pleasant green space that was born around the Fervença river, occupying an extension that goes from the citadel to the urban expansion zone. The Montesinho Dam, in Ribeira de Vilar, is part of the Natural Park with the same name. This area has an enormous diversity of flora and fauna, with special emphasis on the Iberian wolf.

Forest with about fifteen hectares, located at 200 meters of, with exuberant vegetation and places that provide fabulous views, such as the Miradouro do Peneireiro. It is one of the six recreational Forest Reserves on the island, with leisure areas, pedestrian circuits, maintenance circuits and a Forestry Promotion Centre.
