Estas velas são símbolos míticos personificando a pureza, outrora exigida para se desempenhar a função de mordomia. Os mordomos têm a responsabilidade de promover a festa ou a romaria da localidade onde vivem. O uso da vela votiva tem tradição antiquíssima, mantendo-se ainda em todo o Alto Minho.

Este museu divide-se em vários espaços que edificam um discurso museológico contínuo com especial enfoque na história do Aproveitamento Hidroeléctrico da Serra da Estrela. Este sistema electroprodutor é composto por 6 centrais hidroelétricas em funcionamento e 2 centrais desativadas, construídas entre 1909 e 2003.

The Museu Romântico da Quinta da Macieirinha (romantic museum) re-creates the atmosphere of a wealthy XIX century Porto’s house. The king Carlos Alberto of Sardinia was exiled and spent the last tears of its life in this house. In his memory, some parts of the house such as the bedroom, the living room and the chapel were set up from the aquarelles and lithography of the king’s time.

Formerly a dependency of the Arouca Monastery, to receive conventual income, Casa da Tulha is part of the Municipal Museum, being its current museum nucleus. The inscription, of 1760, places its construction in the 18th century. With an interesting general appearance, it is the portal – topped by fires and a cross – that takes center stage in this architectural piece. Visits to Casa da Tulha must be booked at the Municipal Museum.

House dating from the 16TH century, located about two kilometres of Fundão, in Cova da Beira, between the Serra da Gardunha and Estrela. There are still, in some points of the historic centre, remains of the Primitive Wall, which remounts to the year 400. This wall had four doors or entrances. The main door was the Vandoma Arch that was east of the borough, between the Largo da Sé and the Rua Chã. From here, the wall surrounded the hill following closely the Escadas das Verdades (stairs), where the Mentiras Arch or Door used to be.
