The mill, as the name suggests, works in a former olive oil mill, which still retains the domed ceiling. The room is decorated with traditional elements, giving it a rustic aspect. The Hat Museum is a space whose primary objective is to preserve the art of hat making, once renowned and a symbol of the municipality, with facilities that include a documentation center containing approximately 30,000 documents from the Industrial Hat Company and the Vieira Araújo Company, as well as felt and hat manufacturing machines, office supplies, samples, raw materials, and furniture.

This company offers since 1997 the possibility to visit the Douro River in a unique and original way. Have six boats Rabelo, forming varied pathways: ruler, pinion, Barca d ´ Alva, Castelo de Paiva and the famous cruise of Six Bridges. This is one of the small villages of the Natural Park of the Estrela Mountain, at an altitude of 580 metres. Most of its inhabitants are farmers these days, even though the culture of linen used to be an activity until quite recently. The project of an artificial tropical forest began in 1910. The Greenhouse opened in 1930 and has four spaces: three greenhouses and a walking area by the lake. Mount São Mamede has an altitude of 750 meters, offering one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Minho region. Besides the phenomenal view, you can visit the Church of Fontarcada, the monasteries of Tibães, Rendufe and Bouro, the Castle of Lanhoso, the Torre dos Machados, and the sanctuaries of Sameiro, Senhora do Pilar and Porto de Ave.

The "Feira dos Capões", well known for being the fair of the castrated roosters, takes place at the Freamunde parish on december 13th. It is the only event of that kind in Portugal and it has taken place at least since the 15th century and it was oficialized by a king's decree on August 3rd 1719. According to the specialists, the fact that a rooster is castrated makes him fatter and stimulates his growth, thus making his meat better tasting. The parish of Gondar is crossed by two rivers that flow to the Tâmega river: Fornelo and Ovelha. The villag of Ovelhinha, located on the bank of one of those rivers, stands out for its river beach (beach of Ovelhinha) and by the roman bridge that crosses the river. Once the main village of the Gestaçô parish, the village currently has only about one hundred inhabitants. Its history is closely linked to the French invasions of the early 19th century, when several manors were set on fire by the invaders.
