This is one of the seven lagoons on the island of Flores that were formed in seven volcanic craters caused by the eruptions that gave rise to the island. It has an average altitude of 600 meters and is close to Lagoa Branca, Lagoa Seca and Lagoa Funda.

A very long beach, surrounded by pine forests and dunes. Hidden in the cliffs are the caves of the Orca Oven Cave, an ecological and preserved area. When visiting the beach, the presence of the Agueira Dune is surprising, as it is one of the highest dunes in all of Europe. It has a water park.

An 8.2 kilometres long pedestrian walk that starts with an ascent to the tallest peak of the island, at Pico Ruivo, from where one descends to the island's parish. Along the way, one can enjoy the central mountainous massive and the Laurissilva forest.

The geological formation in this area created one of the island's most popular bathing areas. The result of lava flowing from the island's interior, the rocks protect small beaches where various soccer and beach volleyball competitions take place.
