Large square with a rectangular shape and a fountain in one of the corners. It has some commercial shops and pleasant leisure areas. During the XIX century and beginning of the XX century the city market was here.

A must visit place, the Praça da Ribeira is the widest space in this historical area of the city. Decorated by the fountain of St. John and the controversial "Cube", the square is a place of very popular esplanades and bars.

This monument is considered to be the ex-libris of the city. Dated from 1728, this tower with 34 meters height is richly decorated and composed by several overlapped bodies. On the last floor are the clock and a belvedere on top.
