Fafe

The municipality of Fafe, located in the lower Minho region, still retains signs of some rurality today. The landscape is diverse and varies between valleys with fertile soils and mountains more suitable for pastoralism. The May Markets, a tradition that dates back to the end of the 17th century, constitute the most important cultural tradition in the municipality, the peak of which occurs on May 16th, a municipal holiday. In a more religious context, the Feast of Our Lady of Antime, in July, receives thousands of believers to participate in the procession in honor of the patron saint. When it comes to table pleasures, the region is known above all for its tender and tasty roast veal, which you can pair with the region's Vinho Verde. For those with a sweet tooth, there's nothing like tasting the regional sweets of Fornelos.
