This monument dates back to 1960 an is shaped like a caravel of the Portuguese discoveries. Inside the monument, there is an elevator that ascends to the sixth floor and leads to a balcony with astounding views of the Tagus river and of Belém.

This natural belvedere is located on one of the hillsides of the Dão river, by the village of Penedo. It has panoramic views of Lageosa do Dão, by the Corujeira river, as well as wide woods and a rocky area.
