A small picturesque village with traditional houses and the vestiges of an old roman villa. Its name, Columbeira, comes from the Latin "Columbeiriu", meaning an underground sepulchre. There are several caves with skeletons and roman vestiges.

The cultural and congress centre of Aveiro runs in the former Fábrica Campos building, being a wonderful example of recuperation and use of buildings to distinct ends from the original. It has several auditoriums and show-rooms.
