The Porta da Devesa dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries and forms an archway over Rua 5 de Outubro. Its name comes from the fact that it separated the town proper from the fertile countryside that followed it at the time, or even because it was the terminus of that same town.

This cave was discovered by chance in 1961 during mining operations. Several tools from the Mousterian industry and stone artifacts from the Upper Paleolithic and Neolithic periods were found here. However, its most important find is a Neanderthal tooth, approximately 30,000 years old.

The 2200 m2 of commercial area of the Edifício Penafiel (Building Penafiel) are divided by three floors and 33 shops. It stands out from the competition due to its parking for 49 vehicles and to its gymnasium. It is located near the centre and it is open from 9 am to 7 pm.

More than a restaurant, Carvalho, in Chaves, is a kind of museum, where history and regional tradition intersect with the most classic recipes, served in order to also perpetuate the entire gastronomic legacy of the Trás-os-Montes region. This Convent assembles a set of buildings of extreme beauty. Although it is a construction from the XV century it is yet what it was built for 500 years ago: a convent of Franciscan nuns. The main chapel of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição church owns a magnificent silver sacrarium. It also has a large glazed tiles carpet from the XVIII century, representing the famous Santa Clara stone monument and, at the entrance, an important gothic tomb from the end of the XV century.

Dated from the 1647 it is an André Soares oeuvre. This is a vast construction with one only nave and main chapel both filled in golden carving. The bell ringer tower was constructed between 1724 and 1727 by Master Domingos Matias and afterwards the main chapel was extended in 1746. It stands out the main altarpiece from the main chapel because it is a fine example from the late Mannerist phase, not only due to its conception, but also due to its decoration.
