The Bridge Street background is one of the main medieval crossings that ensured the passage over the river Ewe, way of Marão, westbound and This. Their size reveals the importance of its existence, certainly repaired and expanded, as proved by the works documented in the 17th century. Not being a pure copy of Romanesque construction, has, however, all the elements that characterize it, being one of the most interesting and best-preserved crossing regional models.

Once fortified, this settlement retains surface features that indicate Roman inhabitation. The settlement's longevity is evident in the homogeneity of its architecture and the materials used. Highlights include the chapel of St. Sebastian, the main church, and several private residences.

A medieval settlement that was once the seat of the municipality between 1120 and 1836, it boasts the castle, a former Templar fortification restored by Gualdim Paes. The botanical garden O Chão das Artes is located in the surroundings of Casa da Cerca, one of the main cultural centers in Almada.
