This fort, built by Philip III in 1603, is located on Pessegueiro Island, south of Porto Covo. During the Restoration War, this fortification suffered several Castilian attacks and was severely damaged. At the end of the 17th century, during the reign of King Pedro II, a new fort was built, which currently lies in ruins.
This bikeway passes through the mouth of the Harbour, being possible to start the route in Castelo do Queijo and, passing through the mouth, reaching the bridge Dom Luís. Beautiful panoramic sea views along the whole route.

From its terrace you can see the mass of houses in that place, distinguished by the difference of volumes and colours and also by the contrast of the scale of the buildings that extend till the river.
