Highly appreciated by children and adults, it is the largest green space in the city and its large reflecting pool is its landmark. It has hiking trails, a children's area, an extreme sports park, recreational boats, a restaurant and two bars. Located in the city's expansion area, it also features a swimming pool-beach, very popular in the warmer months, from where it is possible to enjoy a beautiful view of the imposing Serra da Estrela mountain range.

Convent built in the 17th century, being situated in a rocky elevation. This location has views of the village and to the Guadiana river. With the extinction of the religious orders in the 19TH century 30 space is voted to the abandonment by the authorities. In the late ' 70 of last century the convent is purchased by individuals that turn into his residence, the Church having been reserved for concerts, exhibitions and other cultural initiatives. Currently, the convent of St. Francis is a cultural center of great importance for the village of Mértola.

About a kilometer from the town, this former convent of the Frades Menores de São Francisco da Covilhã was founded in 1563, in a place that offers excellent views of Cova da Beira and Serra da Estrela. The convent was extinguished in 1834, with its objects of worship being distributed among several churches in the region, until in 2001 it was transformed into an elegant inn, with 24 rooms. The hotel unit kept the architecture in an amphitheater, on the slopes of Serra da Esperança.

In the vicinity of Castelo Branco, in a high place of great natural beauty, stands a hill of quartzite formation, with strong endogenous vegetation and from where you can contemplate beautiful panoramic views over the Tagus Valley and the city. At the base and on the hill there are traces of the Roman presence in the region, as well as marks of a prehistoric past. Proença Júnior was the first archaeologist to be interested in this place, having found in 1903 three inscribed stelae from the Bronze Age.

The campsite Quinta da big key is a green space with a magnificent view of the Valley. Here you will be able to experience the daily life of a rural village, exploring the market and local food agricultural trade, with the possibility to participate in the feast of harvest. Try camping in the shade of the vines, fig trees, mimosas, chestnuts, among other trees that abound in the fifth. Be sure to visit the Manor of Arms and the dam of Távora, with countless nautical activities at your disposal.

The hill overlooks the town of Lamego. The Biological Park, with an area of 50 ha, is located on the Meadas Hill. It has a wild environment with many local plant and animal species. At the distance of 1 km, one finds the Meadas Hill Wind Farm that should be visited. Another obligatory visiting spt is the Meadas Hill belvedere, with imposing views of the granitical Marão Mountain and,way down below, by the Douro river, the town of Peso da Régua.

Located to the northeast of Montalegre, it belongs to the Old Massif. It measures 10 km and it is the second highest mountain in Portugal, with its peak at an altitude of 1527 metres, at the Fonte da Pipa (Barrel Fountain). From the top, one views the Lima, Tâmega, Cávado and Rabagão valleys, as well as several villages and the small town of Montalegre. Besides the landscapes, there are also horses and one can do mountain sports, such as hang gliding, paragliding, climbing and walks.

On select days, it's possible to climb to the Lidador Tower viewpoint, where the City Hall services are located, and enjoy a privileged view of Maia and the entire Porto Metropolitan Area. Inaugurated in 2001 and standing 92 meters tall, this is the 5th tallest building in the country and the tallest outside Lisbon. Visible from any of its 10 parishes, the Tower is a landmark of the municipality and its most recognized brand image. Participation in the guided tour is free, but prior registration is mandatory.
