The Battle of Valdevez was one of the most striking moments of national history, when in the spring of 1141 the armies of King Afonso Henriques and Alfonso VII of Castile and Leon, his cousin, if found. The meeting became a sort of a medieval tournament, rather than a battle almost certain. Was an example of diplomacy and common sense to not be spilled a single drop of blood. The statue of Trasladário field, j. Rodrigues, marks this event.
