Vila do Bispo

Vila do Bispo is located in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park and is the westernmost municipality in the Algarve, where small freshwater streams flow into the water. On the southern side, the landscape is marked by coves and bays. The municipality's many beaches, Cabo de São Vicente, and Ponta de Sagres are the most visible attractions. The cuisine is essentially characterized by what the sea provides. Fish, prepared in various ways, and seafood are on every menu. Fish "massada," fish stew, "papas mouras" or "xarém", mackerel, mussel rice, fried moray eel, raw limpets with roasted figs, and ray with garlic are some of the many examples. Fig and almond-based sweets, sugar bread dough, sweet potato pastries, and "Glórias" are abundant.
