This castle was formerly a Lusitanian fortification, but it was the Romans who made it militarily important. During the reign of King Dinis, fortification and expansion work was carried out, with six towers being erected and walls being built around the town. After losing its defensive function, the castle fell into decline. Currently, only a few sections of the walls, some gates, and two towers remain. It is believed that this site once housed a castrum built by Lusitanians, Vetoans, or Turduli who took refuge there. It was later occupied by the Romans. The first restoration work was carried out …

Former palace built in 1599, with a rectangular plan, with two floors and two bodies and a central courtyard, owned by the Matos Azambuja family. It later became the property of the Hintze Ribeiro family and, in 2007, it was sold. Inside you can see murals from the period of Queen Maria I, 19th-century marblework and wallpaper from the late 18th century.

It is believed that the primitive building was built in the 14th century, working at the time as a watchtower. It was later remodeled in 1573, suffering more reconstructions in the following centuries. It consists of a longitudinal plan composed, with a single nave and a square chancel, with coverage in fake wooden barrel vault on the ship and in "alfarge" style in the chancel. Despite medieval origin, the Church denotes a large Renaissance influence.

This park is part of a revitalization plan for the Parque Florestal de Monsanto. This last one offers various equipments grouped in nucleus called urban parks. The urban park of Alto da Serafina, opened in 1992, works as central park with varied entertainment equipment. You may walk along the Mata de São Domingos de Benfica and Campolide, going through the Alto da Serafina and the the Águas Livres aqueduct, in a tree area.
