Many years ago, community ovens Barroso were covered with thatch (rye straw). With use, the coverage frequently, and also the burning homes in villages where they were, because the fire was spreading and burned down the houses next door, running the settlements a high risk of widespread fire, what I think has happened a few times. For this reason, at some point began to cover the ovens with slabs of granite. Even though it was work hard to perform, soon found to be the compensating results. Bought by Mario Coelho, with early gains in money "hems", the old House of the Travessa do Alecrim, today transformed in Museum Mario Coelho, provides a "trip" for 40 years of his career. The photographs, trophies, costumes of "luces" represent an integral part of the history of bullfighting.

The castle, as we know it today, is a modern renovation of fortifications that, according to archaeological studies, date back to the Castro culture. Of the original design, only the quadrangular wall remains, protected at the corners by turrets. During the reign of King João III, it was converted into a sunny, castellated residence.

Second Order Franciscan Convent - Poor Clares. Rectangular in plan, it comprises a chancel, sacristy and cloister. Its collection is vast and includes interior chapels and altars built by the nuns and mural paintings, among other remains. Today it functions as a foundation and the premises serve as an inn.

This was the convent of the order of Saint Paul Hermit and was built following the 16th-century urban expansion. It was composed by Church, chancel, cruise, sacristy and cloister. In the 20th century was adapted in order to make way for an oil refining factory. Today is privately owned and is in a poor state of conservation.

On the north side of the village, the entrance was through this door. The inscription on the tombstone that at the top of the monument attests and glorifies the election of Nossa Senhora da Conceição as the patron saint of Portugal. Today it is one of the entrances to the fence of the Convent des Augustins, given the displacement of this door for traffic requirements.

In the first cove north of the lighthouse, at Boca do Chapim, there are numerous dinosaur footprint trails (round in shape). Looking closely, you can even see the rectangular tail mark. The trail begins where the Atlantic Ocean bed is today and follows the escarpment upwards.

Roman bridge adapted in medieval times, transformed into a trestle deck bridge with two full arches. It has a perfect round arch of cushioned staves and a small side arch. Even today it retains the original floor made up of large slabs and stone guards.

The region of Faro has been becoming increasingly cosmopolitan. Continues to be more popular as a tourist attraction in the summer, but increasingly in other capital gains not only the beaches. Its picturesque historic centre, the Castle and the walls are visiting points that any searches.
