The muncipal library is currently located on the first floor of the Casa dos Arcos (House of the Arches), the old Horta e Costa family manor. It is famed for its exterior gallery with thre columns that stand on an archway porch.

The library functions, since June 26, 1993, at the first headquarters of the "paços do concelho". Its books were mostly donated by the Foundation Calouste Gulbenkian. It also has a multimedia section, with five computers available.
