Dna Silvia Cardoso was born in Paços de Ferreira, in the Casa da Torre (Tower House), in 1882, and passed away in the same house in 1950. The canonization process began in 1984 and she was declared a Servant of God. The statue was ianugurated on August 23, 1953, by the Cardinal Cerejeira and by the Bishop of Oporto Dom António Ferreira Gomes. The event was broadcasted to the entire country.
