In 1988, the Praia Grande was classified a "Praia Dourada” (meaning golden beach) by the Ministry of the Environment. To highlight the event, a walking trail is proposed to all that visit the beach. The tour is designed so that visitors can best enjoy and appreciate the landscape and existing natural heritage. The trail is split into two walking paths, each around two kilometers long. These are: the trilho nascente (rising sun trail) and the trilho poente (setting sun trail).

In addition to this nucleus, the S. Tiago Visitable Reserve, the Church of Santiago and the Wine and Vine Center are also open to the public — as a permanent exhibition.
