Vizela

Vizela, located in the Ave Valley basin and naturally green, is renowned for its famous medicinal waters and spa tourism, benefiting from its proximity to the Vizela River. By visiting the Sanctuary of São Bento das Peras, the city's patron saint, you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Vizela River valley. The festivities in honor of São Bento are celebrated on July 11th, with a procession and open-air mass. Vizela is also about good food. Be sure to sample the local delicacies, accompanied by the region's fine vinho verde (green wine). Before you leave, there's nothing like trying Bolinhol, also known as "covered sponge cake," considered the flagship of Vizela's traditional sweets.
