Óbidos

Óbidos is the quintessential Portuguese medieval village. Anyone entering its walls is immediately transported on a journey back in time to the era of knights, kings, and queens. Along its narrow streets, the marks of time are visible, showcasing monuments with Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance characteristics. After passing through the village gates, stroll through the typical streets, where whitewashed houses adorned with flowers on balconies and windows. Here you will find various shops selling handicrafts, clothing, and souvenirs. This village hosts two major festivals every year: the Medieval Market, which takes place in July and aims to recreate the daily life of a medieval village; and the Chocolate Festival, which takes place in February, with various activities and competitions where chocolate reigns supreme.
