Paredes de Coura

Paredes de Coura is a village with approximately 1500 inhabitants and consists of 21 villages rich in history and customs. In the heart of Minho, the County is mountainous, with the highest peak Corno do Bico, with 883 meters of altitude, in the protected landscape area of the same name. The river that runs through the region is the Coura. Traces of human presence are numerous. Tapirs, dolmens and forts are visible all over the County. Highlighting the Cossourado Neolithic village and the castro de Cristelo. The County has already been much more extensive than it is today, but has always been sparsely populated, with strong agricultural dominance. Many still call it the "Barn of Minho". The gastronomy of the region include trout from the river Coura, sausages, and the lamb. In confectionary, try the "filhós", corn biscuits, "rabanadas" and the famous "formigos".
