Paredes de Coura

Paredes de Coura, right in the heart of Minho, is a mountainous municipality, with its highest point being Corno do Bico, at 883 meters above sea level, within the protected landscape area of the same name. The river that runs through the region is the Coura. The municipality was once much larger than it is today, but it has always been sparsely populated, with a strong agricultural predominance. Many still call it the "Granary of Minho". The region's gastronomy is highlighted by trout from the Coura River and sausages, kid goat, and lamb. For desserts, try the "filhós", "roscas", corn biscuits, "rabanadas" in red wine, and the famous "formigos".
