Castelo e Muralhas de Tavira
The foundations of the defensive system were built between the VIII and XIII centuries, during the Moslem domain. The earliest moor fortification was improved after the Christian Conquest, ordered by king Dom Dinis. Nowadays, you can still see some sections of the Wall, the Arco da Misericórdia and a part of the fortress that keeps its medieval characteristics. Inside the walls, a magnificent garden stands out.
