Tavira
The intersection of the Ria Formosa with the estuary of the Gilão River marks the Tavira landscape. In addition to the recognized Arab influence, its position made it an important crossing point for ships. One of the activities that most projected the municipality was tuna fishing, started in 1732, and which lasted until the second half of the 20th century. Currently, Tavira has blossomed for tourism and its beaches are one of the main attractions. Be sure to take advantage of the sightseeing tours to get to know the Ria Formosa, a natural setting of great beauty, chosen as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal.
