Vila Verde

The municipality of Vila Verde, one of the largest in the Minho region, is dominated by the rivers Cávado, Homem, and Neiva. Located north of the city of Braga, this territory is rich in fertile valleys, with agriculture being the most predominant economic activity. Vila Verde’s cultural calendar is lively and vibrant throughout the year. There is no shortage of festivals, pilgrimages, and fairs. And if you’re visiting, be sure to take home one of the icons of Vila Verde’s handicrafts and culture: the “Lenço dos Namorados” (Sweetheart Handkerchief). As for gastronomy, indulge in the region’s flavors: cornbread, oven-roasted kid goat, "rojões à moda do Minho" (traditional pork dish), or "papas de sarrabulho" (a traditional meat and bread porridge). All perfectly paired with the region’s refreshing Vinho Verde. For dessert, don’t miss the delicious and typical “Abade de Priscos” pudding.
