Viseu

Viseu belongs to the Dão-Lafões tourism region, and it will charm you for its hospitality and for its history. It is located on a plateau surrounded by a mountain system made up of the Estrela, Caramulo, Montemuro, Lapa, Leomil, Arado and Lousã Mountains, therefore the dominant colors are the green of the pine forests and the gray of the granite and schist. Here you can find several archaeological remains that testify to the Romanization and medieval character of this city. In addition to the vast archaeological heritage, Viseu is also rich for its architectural works – especially the Cathedral, the Grão Vasco Museum or the Solar dos Condes de Prime –, its gastronomy and its handicrafts.
